 Coyote Glazes Are Here at L&R!!!

The Claydogs are running with the Coyotes!

We now have 49 different Coyote Glazes in stock, including the Shino, the Mottled, and Archie's Glazes.  These are all Cone 5 - 6 glazes and at the moment we only have them in pints, but we will be happy to order any of the Coyote glazes in whatever quantity, wet or dry, that you need.

 L&R's 19th Annual Raku Day!!!!

    

On the first day of November we  had our 19th Annual Raku Day here at L&R Specialties.

The day was bright and warm.  A picture perfect day here in Southern Missouri to crank up nine Claydog Raku kilns and get some smoke rolling from the trash cans.  Luckily the Nixa Fire Department slept in late, because we had crowds of people all day and all of them seemed a bit touched with pyromania.  Hundreds of pots, sculptures, and do dads made it through the process.  Several did not.

We want to thank all of the people that volunteered to help.  They all have been awarded honorary Claydog status.  We also want to thank everyone for bringing in such a wonderful spread of food.  It was a great day and if you missed it, your days may just seem a bit dull until next Raku Day comes around again.  But we will put up new pictures on the Raku Day page and hopefully that will get everyone through until next year.

Thanks to everyone that came and hopefully we will see you all back next year.

First Friday Night Art Walk On the first Friday of every month throughout Springfield's downtown galleries, artist's studios, and other venues, you can view and purchase the latest sculpture, pottery, blown glass, photography, paintings, and more. There is also a wide selection of great restaurants, refreshing beverages, and plenty of live music.  Come see the exciting side of Springfield, MO. Several Commercial Street venues have been added to First Friday Art walk with free shuttles running between downtown and Commercial. First Saturday Night Art Stroll Historically, the old Downtown Branson area has been host to several different events.   Now Branson is pleased to announce another venue to the Historic Downtown Branson area . . . Note from Jerry I would like to tell all my friends and customers that I have not sold L&R Specialties. I have only semi-retired, so Rita is now running L&R, and she is doing a fine job. However, I am still in touch with Rita and the staff at L&R, usually daily, and I am in and out from time to time. I do keep up on the goings on, not only with L&R, but with the clay world in general as well.

L&R has been my life for 19 years, and I hope to be here for many years to come. I would like to thank all my many friends for their support through the years and I hope we will have many more.

Pottery classes: CLAY LIKE A KID AGAIN!!

Next Beginners Class will be starting soon.  Exact date not set yet.   Call or stop by to register.  Space fills up quick.

This class meets Monday evenings for six weeks and teaches the basics of wheel throwing. The class includes 25 lbs of clay and a pottery tool kit. You will learn how to center, open, pull up a cylinder, and trim your pieces. You get to glaze all your "keepers" at the end of the session. No prior experience necessary .

Fee: $ 125.00.  Deposit $60.00 to save a spot. class space is limited; ages 12 and up.

 

Intermediate / Advanced Pottery Class

Next Intermediate / Advanced Pottery Class will be starting soon.  Call or stop by to register for next class. 

Classes are also six weeks expanding on basic skills. In this class you will learn techniques for functional pieces, handles, sectional pieces, lids, etc. Before registering for this class, you need to master the basic throwing skills and be able to center the clay easily. Please call us if you are interested.

Fee: $ 125.00 deposit $60.00 to save a Spot. class space is limited; ages 12 and up

 

Hand-Building Class Don't have a wheel? How about Hand building?

Class size is limited to 7 students, refund will be issued 14 days prior to class. L&R reserves the right to cancel class if student enrollment is not met.
